JMC IS UNDERGOING A MAJOR PROCEDURE...Facts About Our Emergency Department Expansion The Jupiter Medical Center Emergency Department (ED) treats 30,000 patients a year. The expansion, to assure we have emergency services available to keep pace with the projected population growth of North County communities, will increase the department's service capacity by 53%.
TIMEFRAME: Pre-construction, site preparation began in September 2006. Actual construction began in December 2006. Projected completion dates for the multi-phase project are listed below:
Phase One – New Construction:

Phase Two – Renovation: ED CONSTRUCTION DETAILS: The $10 million, 7,800-square-foot multi- phase project will add 9 beds to the existing 17-bed, 9,000-square-foot complex. When completed, the 26-rooms of the ED will include
ED FEATURES: The new facility will include high-tech treatment rooms, new patient registration and patient triage areas, and a new waiting room with an outdoor patio. ED TECHNOLOGY: Currently, the ED utilizes the most technically advanced equipment for emergency treatment and patient monitoring. A state-of-the-art ED tracking monitor was previously installed that provides physicians, nurses and staff with a central real-time view of patient status “at a glance” without having to manually update information. Additionally, all areas beyond the waiting room area are secured with badge access only entries. THE GOSS PROGRESSIVE CARE UNIT: In conjunction with Phase One of the ED expansion project, a $4.2 million, 6,600-square-foot, 8-bed PCU is being added to the second floor, above the expanded ED. The PCU opens effective Monday, December 17, 2007. SITE: Northwest corner of the Medical Center.
