Volunteering at Jupiter Medical Center
Although the over 700 Jupiter Medical Center Auxiliary volunteers
come in all shapes, sizes and ages; they share a common desire to touch
people’s lives and make a difference by contributing to the community in
which they live and prosper. The Auxiliary volunteers staff over 60
different positions within the hospital such as providing
wheelchair-bound patient transportation, family waiting room support,
operating the visitor information desk and assisting in the high-energy
emergency room and intensive care units. In addition to the hospital,
volunteers staff positions at satellite facilities such as Women’s Diagnostics Center, The Pavilion,
Ella Milbank Foshay Cancer Center and Outpatient Surgery Center.
The Auxiliary operates the Motor Aid Service providing
transportation to and from the hospital and doctors offices, Monday
through Friday, every week of the year. This service provides a vital
link to the non-driving members of our community. Volunteers drive
mini-vans, and assist patients to arrive at physician appointments,
medical procedures and critical treatments such as chemotherapy.
The Auxiliary also operates three revenue generating facilities:
The Thrift Shop and
Gift Shop. Auxiliary members volunteering in these specialized
areas may find themselves operating a cash register, re-stocking and
pricing donated items, assisting customers in selecting purchases,
creating an inventory of estate sale items, or providing telephone
support. In the past five years, the Auxiliary members have raised over
$2 million to improve patient and visitor services at Jupiter Medical
Center.
