Comprehensive Orthopedic Care at Jupiter Medical Center
Your quality of life depends on the ability to do the things you enjoy. Your passion might be out on the links, taking long walks, gardening, shopping, playing bridge or a grueling game of tennis with good friends. Pain in your joints from injury or wear and tear can diminish or prevent you from participating in those things that make you happy.
Jupiter Medical Center's staff of board certified orthopedic surgeons restore quality of life for hundreds of people every year. Our highly skilled team of surgeons is specially trained in areas including total joint replacement, spine surgery and other orthopedic procedures, which have been proven time and time again to help people get moving again, without constant pain.
Jupiter Medical Center is the #1 Preferred Hospital because we are dedicated to providing patients with advanced care and, when possible, minimally invasive procedures. That commitment has meant assembling a team of not only accomplished and experienced orthopedic surgeons, but also nurses, licensed physical therapists and pain management specialists - all dedicated to your successful treatment and recovery.
Ours is a "comprehensive" Orthopedic Center, meaning the care you receive at Jupiter Medical Center's Orthopedic Center starts with making the diagnosis. In addition to surgery, we provide the gamut of options to manage your pain, including a full service specialized Pain Management Center, as well as a comprehensive Health and Rehabilitation department.

Who is a Candidate for Total Joint Replacement?
Total joint replacement surgery is by no means the first line of defense against your pain. Rather it is the last resort after conservative therapies, including rest, activity modification, use of an aid, anti-inflammatory medications and therapy, have failed to bring you relief and mobility.
To determine if you are a candidate for total joint replacement surgery, your orthopedic surgeon will take a complete medical history, x-ray and MRI (if needed) to understand the extent of your joint degeneration. It is then that you and your orthopedic surgeon can make an educated decision about whether you are a candidate for the surgery and what it might do to restore your quality of life.
Total Joint Replacement Recovery
Patients generally stay in the hospital four to five days and undergo about six weeks of physical therapy after having total joint replacement surgery. Most patients regain normal movement after about three months.
The downside of total joint replacement is that regardless of the quality of the prosthesis, it is an artificial joint. If something goes wrong with that joint, it generally is going to require surgery to correct it. In most cases, however, patients can look forward to their artificial joints lasting a decade or more.
