Medical Center Adds Top of the Line MRI to Celebrate Tenth Anniversary

Jupiter, FL (December 17, 2012) – To celebrate its tenth anniversary, Jupiter Outpatient Imaging (JOI) at Jupiter Medical Center (JMC) recently added the Optima MR450w 1.5T with GEM Suite coil technology to its imaging services. Simply the best technology available, this advanced system from GE Healthcare’s wider bore helps enhance the patient experience, making for a more comfortable and relaxed exam.

“The high resolution images help us make accurate, definitive diagnoses, and it truly is designed for patient comfort,” said Dr. Lee Fox, Chief of Radiology at Jupiter Medical Center. “This is the best technology there is, and we’re so fortunate to have it available right here at Jupiter Medical Center.”

This system also delivers uncompromised imaging capability for the most advanced and demanding exams. The Optima MR450w 1.5T system goes above and beyond conventional breast imaging, often providing solutions to tough, diagnostic problems and identifying breast tumors that other exams would fail to detect. Breast MRI is usually performed when more information is needed than a mammogram, ultrasound or clinical breast exam can provide.

Donors Suzanne Niedland DeGeorge and Larry DeGeorge donated the funds needed to bring this new technology to JOI.

“Larry and I believe that early diagnosis of cancer may help reduce loss of life. We are especially passionate about early breast cancer detection. We are happy knowing the new MRI will provide women in our community with world-class diagnostic technology to facilitate detecting breast disease at the earliest possible stage,” said Suzanne Niedland DeGeorge.

Other features include:

  • Latest in high definition imaging technology
  • A 70cm wide bore and 50cm field of view to make scans accessible to more patients
  • Strong, whole-body gradients that yield scans that are fast, accurate and highly reproducible
  • Advanced functionality to help make definitive diagnoses
  • GEM Suite coil technology “embraces” the patient to maximize comfort
  • Less stress and discomfort for claustrophobic patients
  • New table surface cushion helps alleviate discomfort
