Pediatric Swallowing Program 

 

Childhood feeding issues are hard to swallow. Jupiter Medical Center’s Pediatric Feeding and Swallowing Program – featuring our specially trained team of therapists – is here to help.  

Feeding issues may involve many facets of a child’s health and development, growth, nutrition and overall well-being. We provide a comprehensive, family-centered approach to assessing and treating children with feeding and/or swallowing difficulties.

Our multidisciplinary team of specialists works directly with parents to develop feeding techniques for their child.

Services include:

  • Comprehensive evaluation process
    • A thorough review of medical, developmental and feeding history of the child
    • Assessment of the child’s oral motor skills
    • Observations of the child eating and drinking different types of food
    • Assessment of all phases of the swallow
    • Assessment of self-feeding skills and behaviors displayed while eating
    • Determine if there are any sensory issues impacting feeding
    • Determine the need for additional testing and consultations with other specialists
  • Feeding therapy
  • Family and caregiver Education

The Pediatric Feeding and Swallowing Program is available to children of all ages. To be seen, your child must first have his or her condition evaluated by a physician who writes a prescription.
