Pre-Operative Education

Hip or knee replacement is a major surgical procedure, which can be physically and psychologically stressful for patients. Getting you ready for surgery begins with a Pre-operative Education class about the surgery and what to expect before, during and after the procedure. The Pre-operative Education class will answer your questions regarding your surgery, recovery and return to normal daily activities.

The Pre-operative Education class is offered free of charge to all patients undergoing a total joint replacement procedure at Jupiter Medical Center. We encourage you to attend.

Presented by a multidisciplinary team of professionals including Case Management, Nursing and Rehabilitation Services, this class is specifically designed for our orthopaedic patients, family members and/or caregivers. Class content includes:

  • How to prepare for your surgery
  • Pre-operative patient instructions
  • What to expect the day of your surgery
  • Post-operative care
  • Information about pain control
  • Equipment and devices
  • Physical and Occupational Therapy
  • Discharge planning/resources available during and after hospitalization

The Pre-operative Education class will give you information on what to expect during your hospital stay and how to prepare your home environment for your discharge. We encourage you to bring along the person who will assist you after your hospitalization. We look forward to seeing you in class.
