Message to the Community

Driven by a deep commitment to quality and service excellence, 2013 was a year of significant accomplishment and growth for Jupiter Medical
Center. Major investments in advanced technologies and equipment, and developing and implementing new programs and services all while
continuously focusing on the highest quality, have allowed us to maintain our status as a world-class healthcare system – one that will allow us to
successfully meet the future healthcare needs of our community.

In 2013, we began a significant shift toward focusing on the health and wellness of the community in which we serve. We can be proud of so many accomplishments that support this new direction and milestones we have achieved. Some of the highlights include:

Providing World-Class Quality

  • We continued our number one ranking in the area as the hospital people are likely to recommend.
  • We continued our number one ranking among area hospitals for our overall quality.
  • The Pavilion’s clinical outcomes and patient satisfaction scores have continued to grow year over year.
  • The Foundation raised approximately $16 million last year thanks to the quality of care you provide which has inspired our generous donors to invest in our future and yours, and will help us meet the needs of the community.

Creating a System of Care through Growth and Expansion

  • We broke ground on the $46 million, 81,000 square foot, three-story Florence A. DeGeorge Pavilion, marking a major advancement in community-based healthcare.
  • JMC’s Niedland Breast Screening Center at Legacy Place on PGA Boulevard in Palm Beach Gardens opened which offers 3D mammography, bone densitometry and blood draws in one convenient location.
  • JMC’s Urgent Care Center opened on the northwest corner of Donald Ross Road and Military Trail featuring six exam rooms, and offers X-ray, rehabilitation, occupational health and corporate wellness services.
  • JMC’s “Wellness in Motion” bus launched offering mobile mammography utilizing the new Selenia Digital Mammography Unit.  This bus has been involved in numerous community outreach efforts and has been present at major Palm Beach County events and businesses – making JMC’s services more accessible and convenient than ever.
  • We accelerated the creation of a second Cardiac Cath Lab which should be opening by the end of the year.

Fulfilling the Community’s Needs with New Technology, Programs and Services

  • We installed the country’s first Optima CT540 CT Scanner, an advanced diagnostic computed tomography (CT) system that offers improvements in image performance and lower radiation.
  • We added the Optima MR450w – the latest, most advanced MRI system available today offering high definition imaging in a comfortable, wide bore setting and including advanced breast imaging with Sentinelle Table.
  • We rolled out the initial stages of a new “Concierge” program with the conversion of six existing patient rooms into three 2-room suites. The program will provide extra non-clinical attention and amenities to serve the needs of the population’s demographics in the area we serve.
  • We entered the Corporate Wellness Services business with our first customer – The Town of Jupiter – whose employees and their families will be utilizing JMC’s services to fulfill their health and wellness needs.
  • We announced a new home health partnership with CareSouth Health System, Inc. to form CareServices of Jupiter Medical Center and offer home health services including: nursing, physical, occupational, and speech therapies, home health aides, social workers, registered dieticians, home infusion services and more.

Additionally, we established a more team-centric environment through a number of activities, including hearing our team members’ voices at ‘Reigniting the Spirit of Caring’ sessions, through Unit Based Councils and the Advisory Committee for Excellence, and through our Team Member Work Climate Survey.

Our ability to continue to grow and flourish, even in the face of challenges, is a testament to the outstanding team of physicians, team members, nurses, volunteers and leaders we have at Jupiter Medical Center. We thank them for their continued commitment and dedication to fulfilling our shared purpose – to care for the health and wellness of our community. We look forward to the accomplishments and achievements 2014 brings.

In Your Good Health,

John D. Couris, President/CEO
