Ella Milbank Foshay Cancer Center
Comprehensive Cancer Program
Jupiter Medical Center’s Comprehensive Cancer Care Program is approved
by the American College of Surgeons’ Commission on Cancer (ACOS) as a
comprehensive community cancer program. Only 25% of hospitals in the
country have ACOS accredited cancer programs. The Radiation Center
is accredited by the American College of Radiology (ACR). The ACR
awards accreditation to facilities for achievement of high standards,
qualifications of personnel, facilities, and quality activities.
These accreditations, along
with the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations
(JCAHO), assures our community that the level of cancer services that we
provide is the highest quality.
We offer many
support groups to assist patients, caregivers and their families by
meeting emotional and physical needs.
Opened July 25, 1986, The Ella Milbank Foshay Cancer Center was designed
with the special needs of ambulatory outpatients in mind. The expanded
comprehensive cancer center builds upon a number of specialized areas of
excellence, offering a multi-disciplinary approach to care that
addresses the full spectrum of patient needs. Cancer center services
include education and outreach programs, risk assessments, screening and
diagnosis, treatment, psychosocial support and rehabilitation. The
cancer center is named for Ella Milbank Foshay, wife of William Ward
Foshay, and mother of Kathy Plum, Jupiter Medical Center Board Member.
The Foshay Cancer Center underwent major renovations, completed in February 2002.
Jupiter Medical Center is dedicated to meeting the special needs of
cancer patients and their families. A comprehensive scope of services
from diagnostic testing and screening to intensive cancer treatment and
rehabilitative care are offered. The cancer care program features a
unique continuum of care and essential inpatient and outpatient
diagnostic and therapeutic services.
Cancer care for our community is accomplished by a team approach. This
assures that each patient and their caregiver’s needs are met on a
personal level. The Ella Milbank Foshay Cancer Center serves as the
location for our Radiation Oncology, Outpatient Medical Oncology and
Infusion Services units. We have a dedicated 26-bed Inpatient Oncology unit for patients
requiring hospitalization.
