During the study you will be carefully monitored from our control room.

What to Expect During a Sleep Study

You will arrive at the Jupiter Medical Center Sleep Center at approximately 8:30 p.m. Our experienced professional staff will greet you and show you to your private bedroom.

After changing into your pajamas, approximately 20 various sensors and wires will be attached to your face, scalp, chest, abdomen, fingers and legs. This takes about 30 to 40 minutes.

You will then be allowed to relax and watch television until the test begins. These sensors are not uncomfortable, and are bundled together to form a “pony tail” several feet long, which is plugged into the wall above your bed. You are free to roll from side-to-side and sit up, but must be assisted should you require getting out of bed.

Sleep Center Control Room

During the night you will be carefully monitored from our control room, where the technicians are available to intervene should you need any assistance or adjustments to the monitoring equipment.

Around 6 a.m. to 6:30 a.m., the sensors will be removed and you will be free to leave.  Final technical analysis is completed within two business days, allowing most reports to be dictated by the physicians within one - two weeks.
