Treatment Options

There are several treatment options available for treating your pain. They range from medication management to injection therapy. Other treatment options include implantable devices, occupational therapy, physical therapy, psychological counseling and alternative therapies.

Medication Management

The relationship between current medications and possible side effects are explored. We combine sensitivity to a patient’s distress with a need to reduce medication dependence. Adjustments are closely coordinated with your physician, and progress and results are continuously monitored.

Infusion Therapies and Implantable Devices

Certain pain cycles can be broken with the injection of anesthetic (Novocain) and anti-inflammatory (cortisone) medications. Spinal stimulators, morphine pumps and other implantable devices can treat chronic pain that has been unresponsive to other therapies.

Occupational and Physical Therapy

Therapists aid in the rehabilitation of patients who have automotive and industrial injuries. They help you develop skills that will enable you to function effectively in your daily routine and to get back to work. Our team of therapists offer pain-relieving techniques such as transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS), posture training, exercise programs, ultrasound treatment, deep tissue massage, acupressure, whirlpool and ice treatments.

Psychological Counseling

Emotional issues, which may accompany pain, are addressed with the help of biofeedback analysis, hypnosis, stress management, pain reduction training and relaxation training. Psychology is used to address components of depression and anxiety and to foster pain-coping responses.

Alternative & Complementary Therapies

Unfortunately, there are times when Western Medicine falls short of both the physician and patient expectations. At the Pain Management Center, Eastern Medicine (acupuncture and herbal medicine) may play an integral role in treatment.
