Physical therapists provide services aimed at preventing the onset and/or slowing the progression of conditions resulting from injury, disease and birth. The physical therapist provides services to individuals of all ages who have functional conditions resulting from, but not limited to, back and neck injuries, sprains, strains and fractures, arthritis, amputations, joint replacements, strokes and neurological disorders, balance, birth disorders such as cerebral palsy and developmental delay, sports injuries and work injuries.
Occupational therapists provide skilled interventions that address developmental, physical, social and emotional limitations, while allowing for improved functional performance and quality of life. They provide care for all ages that are aimed to assist the patient in optimizing their current level of activity and self-care. Services offered include, but are not limited to, activities of daily living and self-care, arthritis, cognitive and perceptual dysfunction, fine and gross motor coordination, hand therapy, joint protection/repetitive motion disorders, post-joint replacement, stroke rehabilitation and more.
Repetitive motion disorders result from repeated motions performed in the course of normal work or daily activities. Jupiter Medical Center offers a host of ergonomic services to help workers adjust their pace of work and arrange office equipment to minimize repetitive motion problems. Occupational Therapy may be prescribed to relieve the soreness and pain in the muscles and joints. Without treatment, repetitive motion disorders may result in permanent injury and loss of function in the affected area.
