At Jupiter Medical Center, we recognize the important role family and friends take in the recovery of our patients. Just like you, our number one priority is their health and safety. We will do our best to care for your loved one with dignity, compassion, professionalism and warmth. Thank you for placing your trust in us. We encourage family and friends to visit our patients often; Jupiter Medical Center has open visiting hours with the exception of our critical care areas.
To provide a therapeutic and restful environment, we recommend no more than two visitors at a time. Children must be escorted by an adult at all times. Children 12 years and older are permitted in the ICU.
In critical care settings, visiting hours are based on individual patient needs. Exceptions to these guidelines will be considered by the nurse and carried out with the patient's best interest in mind.
When visiting the ICU, please call prior to entering the unit. An intercom is conveniently located outside the ICU doors. This will allow the nurse to prepare for your visit, as well as protect the privacy of all patients.
ICU visiting hours are limited and individualized to meet the patient's and family's needs. Please ask your ICU nurse for the visiting hours. ICU/PCU observes quiet hours from 1:00pm-4:00pm daily, we ask that you do not visit your loved one during those hours.
For your convenience, there is a family waiting room located near the ICU where visitors may wait between visits. The family waiting room has comfortable seating, television and a meditation room.
A private telephone is available for your use at your bedside for incoming and outgoing telephone calls. Telephone directories are provided for your convenience. There is no charge for local calls. Long distance calls can be billed to your telephone credit card or to your home telephone. Cellular phone usage is discouraged to maintain quietness, but permitted in all public access areas.
Dial 9, wait for the dial tone, then dial the local number.
If your long distance carrier is AT&T or MCI, dial "0" for the operator to assist you. For other long distance carriers, please refer to the instructions on the back of your telephone credit card.
Incoming calls: Family and friends can call you directly by dialing (561) 263 – your room number with a 2 in front of the number.
A Telephone Device for the Deaf (TDD) is available through the hospital operator. Ask the nurse for assistance. For an amplified handset or to report equipment failure, contact your nurse. Visitors may use the TDD located at the switchboard.
