Jupiter, FL April 18, 2017 – Jupiter Medical Center today announced that it once again received
an “A” grade from The Leapfrog Group for its continued commitment
to upholding the highest levels of safety for patients. The Leapfrog Group,
a nonprofit organization committed to driving quality, safety, and transparency
in the U.S. health care system, just released the new spring 2017
Hospital Safety Grades, recognizing Jupiter Medical Center’s world-class patient safety
outcomes for the fourth consecutive time. Jupiter Medical Center was the
only hospital in Palm Beach and Martin counties to receive an ‘A’
in the spring 2017 grades.
“In an environment where consumers are becoming increasingly aware
of their health care choices, I am particularly proud of the excellence
that the team at Jupiter Medical Center has consistently shown in the
area of patient safety,” said John D. Couris, President and CEO
of Jupiter Medical Center. “We hold ourselves to the highest standards
and this recognition from The Leapfrog Group confirms that.”
Jupiter Medical Center is the only hospital in Palm Beach, Martin and St.
Lucie counties to currently maintain both an ‘A’ rating and
a 4-star quality rating from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
This stellar record is the product of the combined efforts of the entire
Jupiter Medical Center team and the hospital’s culture of quality,
transparency and innovation.
“This recognition gives our community confidence in the care they
will receive here,” said Steven Seeley, Vice President, Chief Operating
Officer and Chief Nursing Officer at Jupiter Medical Center. “It
takes continuous vigilance to provide excellent outcomes for patients.
The administration, medical staff, nurses and quality teams implement
and monitor safety initiatives, design quality measurement systems, and
review daily practices and procedures to meet and exceed rigorous safety
benchmarks.”
Developed under the guidance of an expert panel, the Leapfrog Hospital
Safety Grade uses 30 measures of publicly available hospital safety data
to assign A, B, C, D and F grades to more than 2,600 U.S. hospitals twice
each year. It is calculated by top patient safety experts and is peer-reviewed,
fully transparent and free to the public.
