Admirals Cove Gives $1 Million Gift to Jupiter Medical Center

January 23, 2018

JUPITER, Florida – Jupiter Medical Center Foundation announced in December 2017 a $1 million gift from Admirals Cove Foundation, a core philanthropic partner of Jupiter Medical Center Foundation.

With overwhelming support from The Club at Admirals Cove, the 850-household private community it represents through philanthropy, Admirals Cove Foundation selected Jupiter Medical Center Foundation as the recipient of its first $1 million pledge.

The gift will go toward the landmark $50 million Anderson Family Cancer Institute, where patients will have direct access to the science-driven diagnostics and therapies found at the nation’s most renowned health care institutions in one state-of-the-art facility. With more than $41 million raised to date, construction is slated to begin this month for the world-class research and treatment facility.

“Thanks to investments in the health and vitality of the community, like this one from Admirals Cove Foundation, the Anderson Family Cancer Institute will expand access to world-class health care across the region,” said Liv Vesely, president of Jupiter Medical Center Foundation. She added, “It is a true investment in the future of our community.”

“Everyone has been impacted by cancer or knows someone who has been affected by cancer, so when we became aware of this opportunity to support this really important initiative at Jupiter Medical Center, we thought it would resonate with our residents,” said Eric Becker, president of the Admirals Cove Foundation Board of Directors. “It’s such a challenging disease and having access to great care is critically important,” he said.

In surveying residents about their charitable priorities, Rebecca Divine, executive director of the Admirals Cove Foundation, discovered that more than half of them were already donating to Jupiter Medical Center individually on an annual basis. The hospital is a resource not only for members of their community but for many of its staff and their families.

“We saw this is as something that means a lot to our community,” said Divine. “We’re very fortunate to have this top-notch hospital in our backyard, with a range of services for people of all ages, including children and seniors. We’re grateful to be a part of this and look forward to supporting Jupiter Medical Center in its future endeavors.” Admirals Cove’s generous gift will be recognized in the Anderson Family Cancer Institute as the Registration Suite donated by the Admirals Cove Foundation.

During the 2017 holiday season, Admirals Cove Foundation donated 679 meals to Feeding South Florida during Thanksgiving and held a holiday donation drive which raised $9,200 to offset the financial struggles of a single mother from Palm Beach County whose 7-year-old daughter is battling leukemia. The Foundation is projected to award grants to 17 local nonprofits in 2018. “Our goal is to have a vital culture of giving,” said Divine.

Admirals Cove Foundation, which launched an ongoing philanthropic partnership with Jupiter Medical Center last June, has prioritized access to quality health care as a critical issue, not only for themselves but for those who “may be struggling and can’t afford it,” said Becker.

“Admirals Cove is a beautiful place, but what’s even more beautiful is a community coming together to give back and to help support this area,” he added. “We’re just really pleased and very proud to be supporters of Jupiter Medical Center. In our view, it’s the premier health care facility in our region.”
