Already ranked the No. 1 hospital for safety, quality and patient satisfaction
in Palm Beach County and the Treasure Coast, Jupiter Medical Center received
another “A” safety rating—the fifth in a row—by
nationally recognized independent watchdog organization The Leapfrog Group.
JUPITER, Fla. (December 21, 2020) – Top destination in Palm Beach County
and the Treasure Coast for world-class healthcare, Jupiter Medical Center
earned a Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade “A” in Fall 2020—the
only hospital in Palm Beach County and the Treasure Coast to do so. Leapfrog
Hospital Safety Grades are assigned by the respected national nonprofit
watchdog organization to more than 2,600 general acute-care hospitals
across the nation and are considered “the gold standard of patient
safety.” This top-level distinction comes at a particularly challenging
time in history for safety concerns about healthcare facilities. It is
also the fifth “A” safety rating in a row awarded to Jupiter
Medical Center by the independent organization. Not only is Jupiter Medical
Center the only hospital in Palm Beach County with an “A”
rating, but the institution also holds this distinction in Martin, St.
Lucie and Indian River Counties.
“As healthcare consumers are considering or choosing to undergo medical
treatment, we know that one of the most significant deciding factors is
safety and quality,” says Dr. Amit Rastogi, president and CEO of
Jupiter Medical Center. “With this national designation, patients
can have complete confidence that the care they receive from Jupiter Medical
Center is the safest available in Palm Beach County and the Treasure Coast
region. Our ‘A’ grade rating by The Leapfrog Group for the
Fall of 2020 is a direct result of our organization’s unwavering
commitment to providing the highest level of care to our patients with
safety and quality at the forefront of everything we do.”
Developed under the guidance of a national panel of experts, the Leapfrog
Hospital Safety Grade uses up to 27 measures of publicly available hospital
safety data to assign grades to acute-care hospitals twice per year. The
Hospital Safety Grade’s methodology is peer-reviewed and fully transparent,
and the results are free to the public. After measurements of medical-error
prevention, injuries, accidents, infections and other patient safety issues
are analyzed, each hospital is given an A, B, C, D or F grade.
“We are extremely grateful to hospital leadership and healthcare
workers who have remained steadfast in prioritizing patient safety as
our nation battles COVID-19,” says Leah Binder, president and CEO
of The Leapfrog Group. “This ‘A’ is a testament to the
care and commitment of those who work for Jupiter Medical Center. With
the current pandemic exposing existing flaws within the U.S. healthcare
system, we appreciate you putting patient safety first. Lives depend on
it.”
In addition to the newest “A” grade distinction awarded by
The Leapfrog Group, Jupiter Medical Center remains the only hospital in
Palm Beach, Martin, St. Lucie and Indian River Counties to receive a 4-star
safety and quality rating from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid
Services (CMS). These national and regional accreditations place Jupiter
Medical Center as a leader in many of the important issues Floridians
consider when deciding on their healthcare.
