Jupiter Medical Center Earns Highest Rating In Region For Quality Of Care From Federal Agency

JUPITER, FLA. (August 2, 2016) – Jupiter Medical Center today announced that the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services recently awarded them a 4-star rating for quality of care, the highest ranking a hospital received in either Martin or Palm Beach Counties. This rating places Jupiter Medical Center in the top 10 percent of hospitals in the state of Florida and the top 22 percent of hospitals nationwide.

“Following on the heels of the Leapfrog ‘A’ grade for patient safety, this 4-star ranking from a respected federal agency underscores the fact that we have higher standards at Jupiter Medical Center and it shows,” stated Jupiter Medical Center’s President and Chief Executive Officer John D. Couris. “From infection control to patient safety to timely care, our team is working hard every day to reimagine the way we deliver health care to our community, and I’m very proud that it consistently translates to world-class quality care.”

Hospital Compare, which was developed through the efforts of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, is an online database that provides information about the quality of care at more than 4,000 Medicare-certified hospitals across the country. Summarizing 64 distinct quality measures in order to rank hospitals effectively, Hospital Compare includes data points on how often hospitals give recommended treatments for certain conditions such as heart attack, stroke or pneumonia, as well as how quickly treatment is given and how a hospital follows best practices to prevent complications. Readmissions and deaths, use of medical imaging, and payment and value of care are other key data points in Hospital Compare. Qualitative patient experience isn’t overlooked however, as the findings include survey results from recently discharged patients.
