What to Expect
Getting Started
Receiving medical care outside of your home country can be a confusing
experience. For your convenience, we have created this guide on what to
expect when visiting Jupiter Medical Center. Here you can learn more about
how to schedule an appointment and how to provide us with necessary medical
information.
Step 1: Request your appointment(s)
To request an appointment, please do one of the following:
Once we receive your request, your global medicine coordinator will contact
you to gather more detailed information.
Step 2: Send your medical records in English*
In order for us to match you with the best specialists and the most appropriate
services, we need some information. Your global medicine coordinator will
work with you to ensure we get what is necessary, including:
- Consultation notes with primary diagnosis and current treatment plan
- Operative/procedural reports
- Diagnostic test results
- Completed lab studies
- Radiology films/CDs and written reports
- Pathology slides and written reports
*Contact us for translation services.
Step 3: Prepare your visa requirements
If you are not a dual citizen and plan to have medical treatment in the
United States, you will need to acquire a B-2 Visitor Visa. Like any visa,
you must apply for it well before you plan to travel.
You will also need to provide the following information about your medical
condition and planned treatment:
- A diagnosis from your doctor regarding your medical condition. The doctor
must explain why it is necessary to get treatment in the U.S.
-
A letter from the U.S doctor that will provide your treatment. This letter
must include:
- A statement of willingness to treat your medical condition.
- An estimate of the costs of the treatment, including the doctor’s
fees, cost of hospitalization and other medical expenses.
- An estimate time length of treatment and recovery.
- Proof that you or your sponsor have sufficient funds to pay for your travel
and medical expenses in the United States.
To avoid having problems paying for major services, the consular office
may ask some visa applicants and their sponsors for additional information.
This may include a request to show how follow-up treatment and hospitalization
will be paid.
If a visa is required, we will take into consideration the timeframe necessary
to complete your visa application and will re-confirm your appointment
when your visa is obtained. Your global medicine coordinator will send
an appointment confirmation packet in advance that can be used when you
complete your visa application. Let your global medicine coordinator know
if you require a visa letter for your application.
Step 4: Receive your appointment confirmation
Your global medicine coordinator will confirm your appointment shortly
after we receive your medical records. We’ll send you a packet with
the name of your doctor, the time, date and location of your appointment,
and other important information you need to know before traveling.
If you also wish to make medical appointments for a travel companion, please
let your international medical concierge know so we can schedule them
before finalizing your travel itinerary.
Step 5: Receive a cost estimate and make a deposit
Prior to any treatment or services, your global medicine coordinator will
provide you with an estimate of costs for anticipated medical services.
Step 6: Help with your travel arrangements
Once your appointment at Jupiter Medical Center has been confirmed, our
global medicine team is available to provide you with transportation and
lodging resources along with any other needs related to your visit.
