Gastrointestinal Cancer
When you or someone you love is facing cancer, choosing a physician is
a decision that shouldn’t be taken lightly. The qualifications of
your physician specialist can have a direct impact on the outcome of treatment.
It’s important to look for providers who are fellowship-trained,
which indicates that they were accepted into advanced training programs
and completed rigorous study at nationally recognized institutions. At
Jupiter Medical Center, we’ve assembled a leading team of experts
and the most advanced technology and treatment options for the diagnosis,
treatment and management of gastrointestinal issues.
Our program has been designated as a National Center of Excellence for
pancreatic cancer by the National Pancreas Foundation. We currently perform
50-60 pancreas surgeries annualy; many of which are done robotically allowing
patients a faster recovery. We are considered a high volume referral center
for cancers related to the liver, bile duct, pancreas, esophageal, and
a number of other aggresive malignancies that continue to increase in
incidence nationwide. We have extensive experience treating pancreas,
neuroendocrine tumors, and high risk pancreatic cysts with the implementation
of a Pancreatic Cyst Surveillance Program in 2018. Jupiter Medical Center
also utilizes Nanoknife technology to treat advanced unresectable pancreas
cancer with intraoperative electroporation (IRE).
Our pancreatic patients have some of the best survival rates in the United
States, and periopeartive outcomes are on par with other well-known National
Centers of Excellence that have earned this designation, including Mass
General/Brigham and Women's, Johns Hopkins, and Memorial Sloan Kettering.
In fact, there are only 73 (https://pancreasfoundation.org/npf-centers-info/pancreatic-cancer-centers/)
Centers of Excellence nationwide, and Jupiter Medical Center is one of
only 6 in the state of Florida.
We host a multidisciplinary conference to review cases of pancreatic cancer,
our team of physicians includes experts from radiology, interventional
radiology, gastroenterology, surgical oncology, medical and radiation
oncology, genetics and pathology.
