Jupiter Medical Center Achieves Milestone of 10,000 Robotic Surgeries

JUPITER, Fla. – April 17, 2024 – Jupiter Medical Center, the region’s only independent not-for-profit health system recently celebrated a significant milestone, completing over 10,000 robotic-assisted surgeries. This milestone highlights the success of minimally invasive surgery, which leads to improved precision, faster recovery, and better overall patient outcomes.
In 2010 Jupiter Medical Center introduced the Frank E. and Mary D. Walsh Robotic Surgery Program, featuring the advanced da Vinci® Si Surgical System. Donna Pinelli, MD, gynecologic oncologist, was appointed the medical director of the Frank E. and Mary D. Walsh Robotic Surgery Program, overseeing the program’s success. The da Vinci Robotic Surgical System offers surgeons precision beyond human capabilities, and high-definition 3D visuals, leading to exceptional surgical outcomes. The program saw 201 robotic surgeries performed in its inaugural year.
Today, Jupiter Medical Center’s program is one of the most extensive robotic surgery programs in the nation, and more state-of-the-art technology is on the way. Jupiter Medical Center is acquiring their 6th surgical robot and will be the first in the state to deploy the new da Vinci 5, the next generation of the Xi surgical system. The da Vinci 5 features the latest technology for additional precision and better outcomes.
Designed with robotics and technology in mind, the newly inaugurated Johnny and Terry Gray Surgical Institute at Jupiter Medical Center boasts state-of-the-art robotic surgery operating rooms with digitally integrated technologies to aid in various surgical procedures, including general, colorectal, urologic, and prostate, thoracic, gynecologic/fertility, gynecologic oncology, and gastrointestinal oncology surgeries.
