At Jupiter Medical Center, our Auxiliary (volunteers) provide invaluable support to patients, visitors and JMC Team Members. Over 700 volunteers comprise our Auxiliary and come in all shapes, sizes and ages. They share a common desire to touch people's lives and make a difference by contributing to the community in which they live and prosper.
Ways to help - Volunteers serve in many areas of the hospital, performing a variety of tasks, such as assisting visitors, directing, escorting and transporting patients, assisting family members in waiting rooms, performing administrative functions, visiting with patients, offering reading materials, or just making sure the patient is as comfortable as possible. They assist JMC team members in departments such as Pre-Op, GI, Emergency Room, Foshay Cancer Center, The Pavilion and the Margaret W. Niedland Breast Center as well as providing a valuable service in Pastoral Care, Patient Advocacy, and Pet Therapy.
Fundraising - In addition to assisting JMC Team Members, patients and visitors, the Auxiliary is also JMC’s largest source of monetary donations. The Auxiliary manages the revenue producing Thrift Shop and on-site Gift Shop in addition to organizing and coordinating many different fundraising events, including a variety of jewelry sales, gold exchanges, book sales, etc. The funds generated from these operations are donated to Jupiter Medical Center and have allowed for renovation of the Pavilion, landscaping of the Pavilion grounds, including creation of a butterfly garden, wooden gazebo and pond fountain. Coupled with the refurbishing of the patient rooms, these improvements dramatically contribute to the quality of life experienced by Pavilion residents. In addition to renovations to the Pavilion, the Auxiliary has made renovations to the Fred Ahlbin Building, contributed to the Emergency Room expansion, purchased vehicles for our Motor Aid and our most recent addition, the Raso Education Center.
Auxiliary members receive job-specific training and are invited to attend several luncheons and other social events. A true esprit de corps and genuine camaraderie develops among the members, and many say the reward far exceeds the commitment. It is an opportunity to really make a difference.
