My husband and I were seasonal residents, spending part of each year in
sunny South Florida. In September of 2018, I found a lump in my breast.
At that time my husband was very ill, going in and out of the hospital
multiple times. Because he was so sick, I put off having the lump checked
out. Sadly, he passed away, and I returned to South Florida in October.
I contacted my physician and requested a mammogram.
I had the mammogram and other testing at the Margaret W. Niedland Breast
Center—such a wonderful team there! I was diagnosed with stage 2
breast cancer and had surgery in January, followed by radiation.
My sister and I are both artists. We are a creative family! I work with
glass and enjoy the creative outlet it provides. She lives on the west
coast of Florida, so I have decided to sell my home here and relocate
to be closer to her. I’ve found a home in an artists’ community
where I can have a studio and small store.
I’m fortunate to have friends and family, who help and support me.
I’m anxious to get back to my creative work.

Think happy thoughts; you’re going to get through this. It will get
better, you will get better, and you can get back to a normal way of life.
