Quality & Safety at Jupiter Medical Center
The Care You Deserve
At Jupiter Medical Center, we are dedicated to transparency and excellence in the care we provide. We believe you deserve to understand how our quality designations are earned, and how these metrics relate to your safety, recovery, and overall experience. We precisely track clinical performance to help ensure the safest, highest-quality patient experience. We are proud of these significant achievements and what they mean for our patients.
Understanding Our CMS Star Ratings
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Star Ratings serve as the foundation for much of the recognition we receive from national rating agencies. These ratings are calculated using five key performance categories:
- Patient Experience: Feedback from both inpatient and ambulatory surgery patients.
- Patient Safety: Tracking hospital-acquired injuries, such as falls and infections.
- Mortality and Complications: Measuring successful outcomes and the management of complex health events.
- Readmissions: Assessing our effectiveness in preventing the need for patients to return to the hospital shortly after discharge.
- Timeliness of Care: Evaluating how quickly and efficiently medical services are provided.
While we are proud to hold a CMS 4-Star rating and rank among the top hospitals in the country, we are always striving to achieve 5 stars. We continually enhance the patient experience through new initiatives designed to elevate the already stellar experience.
Prestigious Recognitions and What They Mean
Our commitment to quality is validated by several national and regional awards. Here is how those designations are formulated:
Newsweek America’s Best Maternity Hospital: Requires participation in an OB registry, above-average maternal and neonatal outcomes, low complication rates, low primary C-section rates, and strong patient experience scores.
Newsweek World’s Best Hospital: This global recognition compares hospitals worldwide. While definitions of "hospital" vary by country, being included on this list is a significant acknowledgment of our clinical standards.
Leapfrog “A” Hospital Safety Grade: We have received our 15th “A” grade, which incorporates many CMS metrics alongside additional patient safety standards
Money Magazine Ortho Best Hospital: Eligibility requires a 4 or 5-star CMS rating, lower-than-expected mortality, complication, and readmission rates, and strong patient experience scores.
Forbes Top Hospital: Awarded to institutions that maintain consistent, high-performing scores across all CMS metrics for five consecutive years.
Panther Partner Award: Presented by Palm Beach State College, this award recognizes our dedication to workforce development, student education, and community engagement.
High Praise from Patients
The Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) is a national survey that asks patients about their experiences during a recent hospital stay. Our overall patient satisfaction ranks the highest in Palm Beach and Martin Counties, while our “likelihood to recommend” rating remains significantly higher than the state and national averages.
