Don McKenna, FACHE
President and Chief Executive Officer
Don McKenna serves as president and chief executive officer of Jupiter
Medical Center, a not-for-profit medical center in Jupiter, Florida. A
recognized leader and highly successful executive with more than 25 years
of experience in the health care industry, McKenna joined Jupiter Medical
Center in January 2018. Throughout his career, he has achieved tremendous
success, increasing both access and delivery of high-quality care.
Prior to leading Jupiter Medical Center, McKenna led St. Mary’s Health
Care System based in Athens, Georgia—a fully integrated, not-for-profit
health care system that includes three hospitals serving 13 counties in
northeast Georgia. As president and CEO of St. Mary’s, McKenna led
the system through several ambitious and successful projects including
the acquisition of St. Mary’s Sacred Heart and St. Mary’s
Good Samaritan Hospital. During his tenure, he improved the financial
performance, quality rankings and patient perception of care at St. Mary’s.
Under his leadership, the health care system was named a 2016 Healthgrades
“Top 100 Hospital” and was recognized three times as Georgia's
“Large Hospital of the Year.” In 2017, McKenna was named “CEO
of the Year” by the Georgia Alliance of Community Hospitals.
Before joining St. Mary’s in 2008, McKenna served as senior vice
president and administrator at Wuesthoff Health System in Rockledge, Florida,
a not-for-profit, two-hospital system now known as Steward Health Care.
He has also served as CEO of Seven Rivers Community Hospital in Crystal
River, Florida, and Chief Operating Officer (COO) for North Ridge Medical
Center in Fort Lauderdale. Early in his career, he worked in Palm Beach
County as a director at Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center.
McKenna earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration and
his master’s degree in public administration from Long Island University
in Brookville, New York. He is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare
Executives, and serves on the Board of Directors for several community
and professional organizations.
Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer
Peter Gloggner oversees employment, volunteer services, team member relations
and leadership development at Jupiter Medical Center, all of which are
built on the foundation of Relationship Based Care (RBC). RBC is JMC’s
care delivery model that focuses on attention to relationships, ultimately
allowing team members to provide the best experience possible for patients,
families and co-workers. In addition, Gloggner oversees compensation,
benefits, team member health services and recruitment. Prior to joining
Jupiter Medical Center in 2011, he served as Vice President of Human Resources
at Union Hospital in Elkton, Maryland for more than six years. Gloggner
is a graduate of the University of Missouri in Columbia, Missouri and
holds a Masters in Business Administration from William Woods University
in Fulton, Missouri. He is a member of the Society of Human Resource Management,
achieving the Senior Certified Professional Human Resources certification.
Gloggner is active with the Northern Palm Beach Chamber of Commerce, and
is Vice President of the Board of Directors at Lighthouse ArtCenter.
Vice President, Finance & Chief Financial Officer
Dale E. Hocking, CPA is responsible for maintaining the integrity and accuracy
of the financial reporting for Jupiter Medical Center, its charitable
Foundation, and all related organizations. He also handles all financial
functions including the revenue cycle, decision support, managed care,
supply chain operations. Hocking manages the debt and capital structure
and is responsible for maintaining relationships with Moody's Investors
Service and Fitch Ratings. Hocking previously served as the Senior Vice
President and Chief Financial Officer for Central Florida Health and Vice
President and Chief Financial Officer of the Mayo Clinic - Florida, Mayo’s
St. Luke's Hospital, and prior to that, Methodist Medical Center.
Hocking was an auditor for the international accounting firms of Ernst
and Young, and Arthur Andersen. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting
from the University of Florida, and is a Florida Certified Public Accountant
(CPA) and a Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA). Hocking serves
on the Board of the Jupiter Outpatient Surgery Center, Jupiter Medical
Center Physicians Group, and Southern Co-Operative Insurance Company SPC,
Ltd. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants,
the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and the Healthcare
Financial Management Association.
Vice President, Strategic Planning and Business Development
As the Vice President of Strategic Planning and Business Development, Sherri
Lewman is responsible for leading organizational strategy, affiliations,
provider relations and marketing communications. Lewman originally joined
the Jupiter Medical Center team in 2010 as the Imaging Director before
transitioning to the Vice President of Outpatient Operations then to the
Vice President of Service Line Development. In her past roles, she worked
closely with operators to lead the growth and development of key service
lines, achieving double digit growth in volume year over year in an increasingly
competitive market. Additionally, she led the identification of new programs,
oversaw implementation and spearheaded all real estate activities. Prior
to joining Jupiter Medical Center she worked at Baycare Health System
where she managed multiple imaging centers and focused on operations,
project management and strategic execution. Lewman is a Certified Nuclear
Medicine Technologist, (CNMT), holds a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration
from Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, Florida, and is currenlty obtaining
her Masters in Health Care Administration from Florida Atlantic University.
Lewman is actively engaged in various community and industry organizations,
including Leadership Palm Beach, Society of Healthcare Strategy and Market
Development, American College of Healthcare Executives, and the Medical
Group Management Association.
Vice President, Ambulatory Care
Judy Magalhaes, MSN, RN serves as the vice president of ambulatory care
at Jupiter Medical Center. Her areas of responsibility include overseeing
the outpatient and retail operations offered at the Medical Center to
include our off-campus Urgent Care Centers. Judy joined Jupiter Medical
Center in 2005. She was promoted to Director of Outpatient Operations
then became the vice president. Prior to joining our team in 2005, Judy
served as the Administrator of an ambulatory surgery center in Florida
and prior to that the director of ambulatory care in Connecticut. She
is a member of the American College Healthcare Executives, Urgent Care
Association of America, the American Academy of Ambulatory Nursing, and
PGA Corridor Business Association. Judy is a graduate of Quinnipiac College
School of Nursing and holds a Master of Science from University of Hartford.
Joanne O. Miller, DNP, RN, NEA-BC
Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer
A recent addition to the hospital’s leadership, Miller previously
served as CNO and VP of patient care for Sibley Memorial Hospital/Johns
Hopkins Medicine, a not-for-profit in Washington, DC, that is in the Johns
Hopkins Health System. At Sibley, Miller was responsible for developing,
implementing and evaluating nursing practice and patient care standards
across the hospital, its skilled nursing and assisted living facilities.
She has 28 years of nursing and health care executive experience. At Jupiter
Medical Center, Miller is responsible for overseeing more than 400 nursing
professionals dedicated to improving patient outcomes and providing the
highest standard of care. Miller holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing
from Mount Saint Mary College, a Master of Science in Nursing Administration
from the University of Hartford School of Nursing, and a Doctorate of
Nursing Practice from Drexel University.
Thomas R. Schoenig
Vice President and Chief Information Officer
Schoenig is responsible for keeping the organization connected with information
through a web of health care applications and a sophisticated network
of data input and communications devices. He is also playing a lead role
in the implementation of Jupiter Medical Center’s new electronic
health record system.
Schoenig previously worked in Altamonte Springs, FL, as the regional chief
information officer for Adventist Health System, a 44-hospital, 8,100
bed health care system. He was a member of senior leadership and led technology
service delivery for two regions within Adventist -- first, over the Midwest
region which included five acute care facilities in Illinois and Wisconsin.
Then he moved to the Dallas/Fort Worth area and oversaw technology service
delivery for four acute care facilities, two nursing and rehabilitation
centers, and numerous physician practices.
Vice President and Chief Operating Officer
Steven Seeley is responsible for the operational departments within the
hospital. Prior to joining Jupiter Medical Center, Steven held numerous
executive positions in nursing and patient care services (including Interim
CNO) at Holy Cross Hospital in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He received a
Master of Science in Nursing from Nova University in Davie, Florida, and
a Bachelor of Arts in Healthcare Services from St. Thomas University in
Miami, Florida. Seeley is a member of the American Organization of Nurse
Executives, Florida Organization of Nurse Executives (Treasurer), South
Florida Organization of Nurse Executives (President-Elect), American Association
of Critical Care Nurses, Emergency Nurses Association and the National
Association of Healthcare Quality. He currently serves as Treasurer on
the Board of Directors of the South Florida Nursing Consortium.
President, Jupiter Medical Center Foundation
As President of Jupiter Medical Center Foundation, Liv has built and directed
a dynamic and growing, first-rate development operation, achieving the
highest philanthropic revenue levels in the medical center's history.
In less than three years, she and her team have raised nearly $100 million
and launched an impressive $300 million campaign to support its long-term
strategic plan. Prior to joining Jupiter Medica Center, Liv held positions
as Deputy Chief Development Officer at Mount Sinai Health System in New
York, NY; and Vice President of Development at Western Connecticut Health
Network. She holds a Bachelor’s degree from Syracuse University,
an Executive Masters in Public Health with a concentration in Healthcare
Management from Columbia University in New York, as well as two other
graduate degrees from New York University and the University of Kent in
Canterbury, England. In 2017, Liv won the prestigious Women’s Chamber
of Commerce Giraffe Award in Palm Beach County. The award is given to
women who have “stuck their necks out” by taking risks, and
have made a difference for women in the workplace and community. Her success
even reaches around the world. Where many years ago, she was once the
Director of Public Relations and Development, she is now on the board
of directors of the Dominican Foundation, a unique non-profit raising
money for those living in poverty in the Dominican Republic – an
organization that was also recognized within the framework of the United
Nations Millennium goals. Liv and her family visit the island nation several
times a year, where she witnesses success stories stemming from the organization’s support.
Vice President, Clinical Integration
Teresa (Terri) Wentz is responsible for leading the development and implementation
of the Jupiter Medical Center clinical integration strategy. This includes
working collaboratively with physicians and payors to find new ways to
work together to improve the health of the community by delivering high
quality, more coordinated care. Terri joined Jupiter Medical Center in
1993 as the Director of Human Resources and was promoted to Chief Operating
Officer in 1997. She has also held the positions of Chief Professional
Services Officer, Chief Administrative Officer, Chief Ambulatory Care
Officer and Vice President of Oncology Services during her tenure. Prior
to joining Jupiter Medical Center, Terri was employed at Glades General
Hospital (now Lakeside Hospital) in Belle Glade, Florida, where she served
as Director of Personnel and Community Development. She is a graduate
of Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida, with a dual degree in Business
Administration and Economics, and holds a Master in Healthcare Administration
from South University in Savannah, Georgia.
