JUPITER MEDICAL CENTER FOUNDATION SCORES HOLE-IN-ONE THANKS TO
THE LOXAHATCHEE CLUB’S ANNUAL FRIENDS OF JUPITER MEDICAL CENTER
GOLF TOURNAMENT
JUPITER, Fla. (February 18, 2013) – Hearts were beating strong recently
for more than 60 members of The Loxahatchee Club as they enjoyed an afternoon
of golf at their Annual Friends of Jupiter Medical Center Golf Tournament.
The Club invited physicians and healthcare professionals from Jupiter Medical
Center to join their members on the greens. This year, the tournament
raised more than $83,750 for the Cardiac Catheterization Program at Jupiter
Medical Center.
Organized by Jim Long, Golf Committee Chairman; Kevin E. Carroll, The Loxahatchee
Club COO & General Manager; Morgan Poncy, MD, Internal Medicine; and
Wilson Zehner, PGA Professional, this tournament annually funds an endowment
established in 1990 by the late Charles Kirsch, who was a Jupiter Medical
Center Foundation Trustee and Loxahatchee Club Member.
“This tournament is successful year after year because there has
always been a close association between club members and Jupiter Medical
Center,” said Frank Ryan, President of the Board of Governors, The
Loxahatchee Club. “Many of our club members have utilized services
at Jupiter Medical Center. They have a willingness and desire to support
the continued growth and high quality care offered at the medical center.”
For the third consecutive year, club members were paired on the golf course
with physicians from Jupiter Medical Center, which allowed them to build
relationships with the physicians in a relaxed environment and gain insight
about current health trends. Dr. Poncy was responsible for successfully
recruiting 17 physicians for this year’s tournament. New physicians
included Lawrence P. Deziel, MD, Anesthesiology; Lee Fox, MD, Interventional
Radiology; Ronald M. Goldin, MD, Nephrology; Chester Maxson, MD, Gastroenterology;
and Susan Poncy, MD, Gynecology.
During the cocktail reception following play, Mr. Zehner announced the
Low-Net team members who shot a 53 were John Dudley; Philip Colaizzo,
MD, Pediatrics; Yvonne Peterson; and Bob Peterson. The Gross-Net Winners
were Skip Kaufman; K. Adam Lee, MD, Thoracic Surgery; Jim Long; and John
Quisenberry. Physicians winning “closest to the hole” awards
were Dr. Deziel; Michael Leighton, MD, Orthopedic Surgery; Dr. Maxson;
and Paul Weinstein, DDS, Oral/Maxillofacial. John D. Couris, President
and CEO of Jupiter Medical Center, recognized Dr. Morgan Poncy, Mr. Zehner
and Mr. Carroll for organizing this long-standing tradition, and strengthening
relationships and friendships between the community and Jupiter Medical Center.
