JUPITER, Fla. (July 2, 2013) – Jupiter Medical Center is proud to announce
that its Wound Healing and Hyperbaric Center received the 2012 Center
of Distinction Award from Healogics. This year, the award was only bestowed
upon 75 centers nationwide out of a possible 550 facilities.
“It is truly an honor to be recognized by Healogics with this prestigious
award,” said Barry Miskin, MD, Chief of Surgery, Medical Director
of Jupiter Medical Center’s Wound Healing and Hyperbaric Center.
“Each and every day, by using hyperbaric oxygen therapy, we are
able to heal our patients’ wounds and return them to a normal quality
of life with their families and loved ones. That in itself is something
to be proud of.”
Jupiter Medical Center’s Wound Healing and Hyperbaric Center met
all of the following criteria to be considered for the award: operational
for a minimum of 12 months; solely provides wound care services, hyperbaric
oxygen (HBO) therapy only or wound care/HBO programs; and excels in the
following Key Performance Indicators (average for most recent calendar
year): Patient Satisfaction – greater than or equal to 92%, Healing
Rate – greater than or equal to 91%, Outlier Rate - less than or
equal to 19%, and Median Days to Heal – less than or equal to 30.
The Wound Healing and Hyperbaric Center at Jupiter Medical Center takes
a multi-disciplinary approach to healing complex wounds. This comprehensive
method delivers advanced wound therapies in an outpatient setting and
offers innovative treatment modalities including bio-engineered skin substitutes,
hyperbaric medicine, negative pressure therapy, biologicals and biosynthetic
skin grafting, transcutaneous oxygen monitoring, Sensilase perfusion testing,
and total contact casting.
