JUPITER, Fla. (May 19, 2014) – John Couris, President and CEO of
Jupiter Medical Center (JMC), was presented the Health Care/Science Professional Award at the
Chamber of Commerce of the Palm Beaches’ Annual Business Awards
Breakfast on May 30, 2014 at the Palm Beach County Convention Center.
The Business Awards recognize Palm Beach County professionals that lead
with confidence by demonstrating a solid commitment to their business
goals, their employees and their local community.
The Health Care/Science Professional Award is presented to a professional
that has been in the industry for at least five years, has demonstrated
a commitment to community involvement and has displayed excellence in
his or her area of expertise beyond the scope of job expectations.
“Since his arrival just four years ago, John has led Jupiter Medical
Center to create a culture of innovation and service of the highest caliber,
while remaining committed to serving and giving back to the community
in meaningful ways,” said Paul Chiapparone, Chairman, Jupiter Medical
Center Board of Trustees. “The organization and our community are
fortunate to have John lead us into the future – advancing healthcare
for our region.”
Couris, who has been in the health care industry for more than 20 years,
has an affinity for improving health care for the communities in which
he serves. Beyond the walls of the hospital, John is a strong advocate
for community health and wellness. One of his most recent initiatives
is his involvement in MyClinic, a free adult primary medicine and urgent
dental care clinic.
Couris supports other not-for-profit organizations and believes in giving
back to his community. Under his direction, JMC sponsors numerous organizations
and events, including the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides
Against Breast Cancer, March of Dimes March for Babies, Honda Classic
(a not-for-profit event that benefits Children’s Healthcare Charities),
and the Mandel Jewish Community Center of the Palm Beaches, to name a few.
In addition to his role at Jupiter Medical Center, Couris is an active
member of the American College of Healthcare Executives, Young Presidents’
Organization, and the American Hospital Association Board of Regents for
the Southeast. Couris also serves on the boards of the Northern Palm Beach
County Chamber of Commerce, the Honda Classic, March of Dimes and Maltz
Jupiter Theater.
