JUPITER, FLA. (April 1, 2016)– Jupiter Medical Center announced today the appointment of Nancy J. Taft,
MD, FACS, a fellowship-trained breast surgeon, as medical director of
its Comprehensive Breast Care Program. In her new role, Dr. Taft will
lead the hospital’s multidisciplinary team of cancer experts dedicated
to delivering the highest quality and most technologically advanced breast
care and treatment.
“At Jupiter Medical Center, we are committed to providing world-class
patient care, and Dr. Taft shares these same goals,” said Jupiter
Medical Center’s President and Chief Executive Officer John D. Couris.
“As the only fellowship-trained breast surgeon in northern Palm
Beach County, her extensive training and expertise will enhance and expand
the capabilities of our Comprehensive Breast Care Program, and give women
a new option for advanced breast care right here in our region.”
Highly trained, Dr. Taft completed a fellowship in breast surgery at Chicago's
Northwestern University School of Medicine—one of the country's
premier breast care centers—where she received a year of additional
specialty training in breast cancer treatment. In addition to her career
as a skilled surgeon and physician, Dr. Taft is a former Lieutenant Colonel
in the U.S. Army Reserve where she served as a trauma surgeon caring for
our soldiers wounded on the battlefields in Afghanistan. Prior to arriving
at Jupiter Medical Center, Dr. Taft served as the medical director of
the Comprehensive Breast Center at Little Company of Mary Hospital in
the Chicago area.
“To have someone of Dr. Taft’s caliber and training join our
team here at Jupiter Medical Center is incredibly exciting,” stated
Dr. Abraham Schwarzberg, chief of oncology at Jupiter Medical Center.
“Dr. Taft is dedicated to working with her colleagues to create
a tailored treatment plan for every patient, leveraging her expertise
in minimally invasive surgical, breast conservation and complex reconstruction
techniques. She will be an invaluable asset to our medical team.”
Dr. Taft has clinical expertise in a variety of areas of breast care,
including benign and malignant breast disease evaluation and treatment,
and high risk evaluation and management. She also offers Hidden ScarTM
surgery, breast conservation surgery, intraoperative radiation therapy,
nipple sparing procedures and oncoplastic breast surgery.
The Comprehensive Breast Care Program at Jupiter Medical Center provides
a broad spectrum of breast health services, with the expertise afforded
by advanced training and specialization in diseases of the breast. The
program offers the most advanced diagnostic and treatment techniques available
today, and services include breast health and cancer prevention, genetic
testing and counseling, diagnostics and early detection, breast cancer
treatment and comprehensive support services.
“There is no need to leave this community to find the latest state-of-the-art
technology and treatment plans because Jupiter Medical Center has proven
they can offer it all,” explained Dr. Taft. “This hospital
has a dedicated team of physicians and staff whose mission is to provide
the highest quality treatment and care to patients and their families.
This fits perfectly with my philosophy of care and is one of the main
reasons I joined the multidisciplinary team here at the Medical Center.
I am honored to be a part of this rich tradition.”
