JUPITER, FLA. (August 8, 2016) - Jupiter Medical Center today announced that its spine surgery program achieved
certification by the Joint Commission, the nation’s leading health
care accreditation and certification organization. Jupiter Medical Center
is a Joint Commission accredited hospital and has received certification
from the Joint Commission in hip joint replacement, knee joint replacement,
shoulder joint replacement, and now spine surgery. The Anderson Family
Orthopedic & Spine Center of Excellence at Jupiter Medical Center
is the only program in South Florida to hold four orthopedic certifications
from the Joint Commission. Patients have a choice when deciding where
to go for their orthopedic and spine surgery and they seek out the highest
quality care. The fact that one medical center is certified for excellence
in all of these disciplines is unique and invaluable to the community.
“On behalf of the Jupiter Medical Center team, I am proud of this
certification from the Joint Commission for our spine surgery program,”
said John Couris, President and CEO of Jupiter Medical Center, “It
is a testament to the fact that we have higher standards. Due to the unwavering
commitment of our physicians and staff, we continue to achieve remarkable
health and wellness outcomes for our community members.”
When assessing an institution, the Joint Commission looks into the quality
of patient care and performance on a set of objective standards developed
using input from consumers, government agencies, health care professionals,
providers and employers. Accreditation as a hospital and certification
for programs by The Joint Commission demonstrates that Jupiter Medical
Center has achieved, and in many cases exceeded, world-class standards
for safe and effective care.
Jupiter Medical Center’s spine surgery program is part of the Anderson
Family Orthopedic & Spine Center of Excellence. The physicians who
make up the Center are highly skilled in the treatment of a wide variety
of spine injuries and conditions, including spinal cord compression, adult
scoliosis and spondylolisthesis. Their specialties include minimally invasive
techniques, innovative reconstructive procedures and even complex revision
surgery for failed spinal procedures.
Another key to the program’s quality is the unique continuum of services
Jupiter Medical Center provides orthopedic patients. The Medical Center
is able to offer a dedicated orthopedic patient navigator, “prehabilitation”
or strength training and education before surgery, inpatient rehabilitation
as well as outpatient physical therapy, and even home care services. The
orthopedic patient navigator is particularly important, in that the navigator
ensures that the patient finds the right doctor, receives coordinated
care from all of the members of the Medical Center team, and keeps family
and loved ones up to date on progress.
“This certification with the Joint Commission demonstrates yet another
way we are reimagining health care in our community,” stated S.
Raymond Golish, MD, Ph.D, medical director of spine surgery at Jupiter
Medical Center. “Our team includes the best surgeons, nurses, rehabilitation
therapists, anesthesiologists, and pain management specialists that South
Florida has to offer. With state-of-the-art technology and comprehensive
treatments, we get our patients back to everyday life as fast as possible.”
The Anderson Family Orthopedic & Spine Center of Excellence is located
in the new Florence A. De George Pavilion on Jupiter Medical Center’s
campus. The specialized unit provides patients with seamless continuity
of care. Patients transition from surgery to recovery and rehabilitation
all in one integrated unit on the second floor of the Pavilion. Bringing
the entire multidisciplinary team together in one comprehensive unit enables
greater collaboration in the care of patients.
The Center is equipped with:
- Surgical suites with the most advanced technology for minimally invasive surgery
- 30 private patient rooms
- State-of-the-art gym for rehabilitation therapy
- Spacious patient and family dining room
