The South Florida Science Center revolves around a simple premise: science
is exciting! Science means adventure and exploration and they are delivering
on this promise by providing schools, visitors and campers an entirely
new set of science programming and tech ventures based on computer coding,
robotics and other leading edge educational programs. These new programs
have allowed them to educate more young minds than ever before, now serving
over 215,000 students, teachers and visitors annually, including 75,000
through field trips and educational outreach into schools and classrooms.
They recently renovated their facility and updates included a complete
re-construction of the 5,000 square foot Hall of Discovery, containing
30 new or rehabilitated hands-on exhibits, upgraded planetarium, new 1,000
square foot early childhood education room; upgraded theater, a new science
laboratory and upgraded amenities. The third phase of the renovation is
underway and they have big plans for a Science Center Campus project this
year which will include a boardwalk, new interactive outdoor exhibits,
and a Conservation Golf Course.
This fall, getting a glimpse of the body’s inner workings won’t
require an anatomy class – just a trip to the leading informal science
education center in the South Florida region. The South Florida Science
Center and Aquarium will let visitors see more than skin deep when the
world-renowned Our Body: The Universe Within exhibit debuts on Saturday,
October 22. The seasonal exhibition includes approximately 200 real-life
human specimens in a fascinating, artful, educational and dignified display.
The exhibition is presented in partnership with Jupiter Medical Center
and Palm Healthcare Foundation, Inc. and will be on display through April 23, 2017.
