Jupiter Medical Center Earns National Award for Quality
Medical Center is the only facility in Palm Beach and Martin counties named
a Top Hospital by Leapfrog
JUPITER, FLORIDA, (December 4, 2018) – Highlighting its outstanding patient safety and quality, Jupiter
Medical Center is among an elite group in the nation named a Top General
Hospital by The Leapfrog Group. Announced today, the Leapfrog Top Hospital
award is widely acknowledged as one of the most competitive honors American
hospitals can receive. The Top Hospital designation is awarded by The
Leapfrog Group, an independent hospital watchdog organization.
The designation is bestowed upon organizations that achieved an “A”
Safety Rating and that embody the highest standards of excellence in health care.
“We are honored to stand alone in the region with this national recognition
for patient care,” said Don McKenna, president and CEO of Jupiter
Medical Center. “Coming on the heels of our ‘A’ rating
for safety from the Leapfrog Group, this latest achievement shows that
Jupiter Medical Center is on the leading edge of health care, not only
in our community but in our state and even the nation.”
“As a member of this community, I know how important it is to have
access to world-class care,” said Robert J. Stilley, chairman of
the Jupiter Medical Center Board of Trustees. “Our dedicated leadership,
physicians and team members relentlessly pursue the highest standards
of care for our patients every day.”
Among thousands of hospitals in the country, Jupiter Medical Center received
a Top General Hospital distinction, recognized nationally alongside:
- 13 Top Children’s Hospitals
- 35 Top General Hospitals
- 17 Top Rural Hospitals
- 53 Top Teaching Hospitals
Jupiter Medical Center is one of ten hospitals in Florida and the only
hospital in Palm Beach and Martin counties to receive the Top General
Hospital recognition.
Performance across many areas of hospital care is considered in establishing
the qualifications for the award, including infection rates, maternity
care, and the hospital’s capacity to prevent medication errors.
The rigorous standards are defined in each year’s
Top Hospital Methodology.
“Being acknowledged as a Top Hospital is an incredible feat achieved
by less than six percent of eligible hospitals nationwide,” said
Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “With this
honor, Jupiter Medical Center has established its commitment to safer
and higher quality care. Providing this level of care to patients in Jupiter
and the surrounding communities requires motivation and drive from every
team member. I congratulate the board, staff and clinicians, whose efforts
made this honor possible.”
