JUPITER MEDICAL CENTER COMPLETES FIRST QUARTER WITH
MULTIPLE AWARDS AND ACCOLADES
Hospital Nationally Recognized for Stellar Health and Wellness Best Practices
JUPITER, FLA. (May 18, 2018) – Jupiter Medical Center began the first quarter of 2018 with multiple awards
and accreditations recognizing the excellence of its programs. The medical
center remains committed to implementing the best practices in health
care, with the goal of providing excellent medical care. Awards and recognition include:
Joint Commission Certification for Hip, Knee and Shoulder Replacement and
Spine Surgery
Jupiter Medical Center has once again received accreditation from The Joint
Commission in hip, knee and shoulder replacement, as well as spine surgery.
The medical center is at the leading-edge of orthopedic care, with a long
history of quality results. It is the only hospital in Palm Beach and
Martin counties to have certification in all areas of joint replacement
and spine surgery. When assessing an institution, the Joint Commission
looks at the quality of patient care and performance based on a set of
objective standards developed using input from consumers, government agencies,
health care professionals, providers and employers. Accreditation as a
hospital and certification for programs by The Joint Commission demonstrates
that Jupiter Medical Center has achieved, and in many cases exceeded,
world-class standards for safe and effective care. Jupiter Medical Center
takes a comprehensive approach to orthopedic and spine care to ensure
that every aspect of a patient’s care is coordinated. The medical
center’s Anderson Family Orthopedic and Spine Center of Excellence
is a dedicated unit where surgery, recovery and rehabilitation are brought
together for collaborative, seamless patient care.
Wound Care & Hyperbaric Medicine Recognized with National Awards for
Excellence
The Jupiter Medical Center Wound Care & Hyperbaric Medicine program
recently was honored with two awards by Healogics, the nation’s
largest provider of advanced wound care services. First, the program received
the Center of Distinction Award in recognition of its outstanding clinical
outcomes, including patient satisfaction higher than 92 percent, and a
wound healing rate of at least 91 percent in less than 30 median days
to heal. The center also was named a Robert A. Warriner III, MD, Center
of Excellence in recognition of achieving status as a Center of Distinction
for a minimum of two consecutive years. The award is named for a pioneer
in wound care and the former chief medical officer for Healogics. The
Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine program at Jupiter Medical Center takes
a multi-disciplinary approach to healing complex wounds. Therapies offered
include bio-engineered skin substitutes; hyperbaric oxygen therapy; negative
pressure wound therapy; biological and biosynthetic dressings and growth
factor therapies.
AABB Accreditation for Transfusion Services
Jupiter Medical Center has been granted an AABB accreditation for its transfusion
activities. Transfusions are provided to replace blood lost due to surgery
or traumatic injury. They also help patients with illnesses that prevent
the production of blood or its components, such as red cells, plasma or
platelets, which form clots to stop bleeding. The accreditation process
follows an intensive on-site assessment and establishes that the level
of technical and administrative performance within the facility meets
or exceeds the standards set by AABB. Formerly known as the American Association
of Blood Banks, AABB is an international, not-for-profit association dedicated
to the advancement of science and the practice of transfusion medicine
and related biological therapies. AABB’s Accreditation Program contributes
to the quality and safety of collecting, processing, testing, distributing
and administering blood and cellular therapy products.
