About Christopher
Dr. Colasanti is a fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon specializing in Shoulder, Elbow, and Sports Medicine. He offers both arthroscopic and open surgical treatment for a wide range of conditions affecting the shoulder, elbow, and knee, including arthritis, tendon disorders, fractures, and joint instability. He has a strong clinical interest in managing complex cases involving bone loss, irreparable tendon tears, or failed prior surgeries.
Prior to joining HSS, he completed his orthopedic residency at NYU, and went on to elite fellowship training in shoulder and elbow surgery at the world-renowned Rothman Orthopaedic Institute.
Dr. Colasanti brings a unique perspective to his practice through a lifelong involvement in athletics, including 17 years of football experience spanning youth, collegiate, and professional levels. He was a four-year varsity letterman at Penn State, where he earned All-Big Ten honors as a linebacker and was recognized as an ESPN Academic All-American. After college, Dr. Colasanti played with the Indianapolis Colts before leaving the NFL behind to pursue his lifelong dream of becoming an orthopedic surgeon. Today, he remains active in athletics and coaches his son’s football team.
Passionate about evidence-based medicine, Dr. Colasanti is actively engaged in orthopedic research and innovation. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and abstracts, and presents at national and international conferences. His academic interests include complex shoulder instability and the integration of navigation and robotics in orthopedic surgery. He has already had a dramatic impact on the practice of shoulder and sports medicine surgery with his innovative endeavors and critical thinking.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Colasanti enjoys spending time with his wife, Jessica, and their three children—Cameron, Vivienne, and Lillian.
