About George
Dr. George Christakis believes some of the best medicine happens through trust, consistency, and genuinely knowing the people you care for.
Before pursuing a career in medicine, Dr. Christakis taught English at Florida Atlantic University — an experience that helped shape the communication style patients now appreciate most about him: approachable, thoughtful, and grounded. He later earned his medical degree from the Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine at Auburn University before completing his Family Medicine residency at St. Lucie Medical Center. He is board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine.
Dr. Christakis was drawn to family medicine because of its depth and variety, as well as the opportunity to care for patients through every stage of life. He enjoys building long-term relationships with patients and helping them better understand their health in a way that feels practical, collaborative, and sustainable.
At Wellness First, his approach combines evidence-based medicine with a strong emphasis on prevention, lifestyle, and whole-body wellness. Patients often appreciate his calm demeanor, steady presence, and ability to make even complex health concerns feel manageable and approachable.
Outside the office, Dr. Christakis enjoys exercising, fishing, cooking, and spending time with his children. He also jokes that one of his more consistent hobbies is being lovingly “bossed around” at work by his wife and business partner, Dr. D.
