Jupiter Medical Center (JMC) is proud to announce that it is now offering robotic shoulder replacement at The Anderson Family Orthopedic & Spine Center of Excellence. This addition expands the hospital’s advanced orthopedic robotic‑arm assisted surgical offerings beyond hip and knee procedures, and further positions JMC as the regional leader in orthopedic care.
Brian W. Hill, MD, fellowship trained, orthopedic surgeon specializing in shoulder and elbow surgery, is one of only nine physicians in the country to offer this innovative surgical procedure. Robotic shoulder replacement surgery, utilizes Mako SmartRobotics™, which combines CT‑based 3D planning with intra‑operative guidance to precisely map a patient’s existing bone structure and alignment, facilitating the creation of anatomically similar or enhanced replacement joints. Mako’s surgical components then allow surgeons to cut, shape and position replacement protheses in real time in the operating suite for accurate adjustments and fits.
“Our community now has access to one of the most advanced approaches to shoulder replacement available today,” said Amit Rastogi, MD, MHCM, President and CEO of Jupiter Medical Center. “We continue to invest in innovative technologies that provide an exceptional patient experience. I applaud our surgeons and their commitment to achieving the best outcomes for our patients
Jupiter Medical Center is among the most highly rated hospital systems in Florida for orthopedic care. Notably, it was one of only seven hospitals in Florida to receive the Healthgrades America’s 100 Best Hospitals for Joint Replacement 2025. Additionally, JMC holds the Joint Commission Gold Seal of Approval for Total Hip & Knee Replacement, Total Shoulder Replacement, as well as Spine Surgery.
“Jupiter Medical Center is the first hospital in Southeast Florida-and one of only a handful across the entire United States- to offer Mako robotic surgery for shoulders,” said Brian W. Hill, MD, board-certified orthopedic surgeon who specializes in complex shoulder conditions, and was the first orthopedic surgeon to utilize the new technology at JMC. “Robotic assistance provides a new level of precision and reproducibility in shoulder arthroplasty, potentially leading to less postoperative pain with improved implant positioning and a quicker functional recovery so patients can get to their activities they love.”
Patients who may benefit from shoulder replacement include those with severe arthritis, irreparable rotator cuff tears, or persistent pain that limits daily activities or sleep. JMC’s orthopedic specialists provide comprehensive evaluation to determine candidacy and personalize care plans.
Patients and referring providers can contact JMC’s Orthopedic Navigator at 561‑263‑3633 for information about shoulder replacement options, including Mako SmartRobotics™. For details about orthopedic services at Jupiter Medical Center, visit jupitermed.com.
