Therapy for Dizziness & Balance Problems
Most people will experience dizziness at some point in their lives. Dizziness
is the number one reason for physician visits by people over the age of
45, but can occur at any age. It could be a sign of a serious medical
condition so you should always discuss your symptoms with your primary
care provider. Often, dizziness is a result of a vestibular disorder.
The vestibular system is a part of the inner ear that helps to control
balance. Problems in this system could cause you to be dizzy, lightheaded
or woozy, or you may experience a spinning sensation known as vertigo.
This dizziness can be effectively treated with vestibular therapy.
What is Vestibular Rehab?
Vestibular rehabilitation is an exercise-based therapy program used to
treat balance and dizziness disorders. It is based on the body’s
natural ability to compensate for balance problems. Certain exercises
strengthen this ability, and with a focused exercise routine, patients
can improve their balance.
Our physical therapists are specially trained to treat balance and dizziness
related to these conditions. A comprehensive evaluation will be completed
to determine the most appropriate treatment.
