Jupiter Medical Center received an “A” Hospital Safety Grade for the seventh consecutive time from nationally respected watchdog organization, The Leapfrog Group. The top rating is awarded only to those hospitals across the country committed to the highest national standards of patient safety.

JUPITER, Fla. (November 10, 2021) – For the seventh consecutive time, The Leapfrog Group awarded Jupiter Medical Center an “A” Hospital Safety Grade for achieving the highest national standards in patient safety. Jupiter Medical Center is the only “A-rated” hospital in Palm Beach County and the only hospital in the area to have received seven consecutive “A” grades.

The Leapfrog Group assigns a grade between “A” and “F” to more than 2,600 general hospitals across the country. The grade uses over 30 measures of safety data including rates of preventable errors, injuries and infections. It also accounts for whether hospitals have systems in place to protect patients from harm. Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grades are considered the “gold standard of patient safety.”

“Safety is one of the foundational elements for patients when deciding where to undergo care,” says Dr. Amit Rastogi, President and CEO of Jupiter Medical Center. “This national designation assures that the healthcare provided by Jupiter Medical Center is the safest possible in Palm Beach County and the Treasure Coast. Achieving seven consecutive ‘A’ grades is a testament to our commitment to providing the highest level and quality of care.”

The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is the only hospital ratings program based exclusively on hospital prevention of medical errors and harm to patients. The grading system is peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public. After measurements of medical-error prevention, injuries, accidents, infections and other patient safety issues are analyzed, each hospital is given its “A” to “F” grade. Grades are updated twice annually, in the fall and spring.

“Jupiter Medical Center has made a clear and consistent effort to protect patients from harm,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “Establishing and maintaining systems that optimize patient safety is especially critical during times of crisis. I am grateful to the leadership and workforce of Jupiter Medical Center for their unwavering dedication to protecting patients.”
