Cancer Can’t Wait - And Neither Should Patients. Jupiter Medical Center Launches Next Day Oncologist Appointments at the Award-Winning Anderson Family Cancer Institute

Jupiter Medical Center, the area's only independent, nonprofit hospital, has announced today that it is offering next day oncologist appointments for newly-diagnosed cancer patients. Committed to quality and patient experience, providing rapid access to leading cancer specialists will empower patients and their families to jump-start their journey to beat cancer.

“Expanding access to world-class health care is our top priority,” said Amit Rastogi, M.D., MHCM, president and CEO of Jupiter Medical Center. “Next day oncologist appointments will greatly improve the quality of life and peace of mind for patients who have received a cancer diagnosis by streamlining access to expert resources – and right where patients want their care – close to home.”

Patients can connect with JMC’s cancer care team by calling The Anderson Family Cancer Institute at Jupiter Medical Center, where they will be guided based on their unique oncology needs, for example, medical, surgical, or radiation. Through this process, they will also be connected to an oncology nurse navigator to provide the support needed to manage the complexities of their diagnosis and care.

“The launch of next day oncologist appointments reflects our understanding of what it feels like to be faced with a cancer diagnosis,” said Rastogi. “Patients want to expedite their treatment, and our elite, multidisciplinary care team can be immediately available to respond to their needs.”

The Anderson Family Cancer Institute at Jupiter Medical Center brings together multidisciplinary cancer experts, leading-edge technology, and amenities uniquely designed to ensure the highest level of patient comfort and healing in one integrated location. The Institute is accredited by the Commission on Cancer, a distinction only 30% of cancer programs nationwide receive, while the multidisciplinary approach allows patients to see multiple specialists and the support team, including a dietitian and social worker, in a single day. Multidisciplinary care is more effective and efficient, given that appointments with various specialists can happen concurrently, which prevents the lag time created by seeing physicians separately.

“We’re dedicated to achieving the highest level of industry standards,” says Rogerio C. Lilenbaum, MD, FASCO, SVP and Chief Physician Executive, and Director of The Anderson Family Cancer Institute. “We applaud our specialists’ commitment to providing potentially life-saving treatment to those seeking next day oncology appointments.”

Jupiter Medical Center has earned top industry accreditation and awards for the oncology services available to patients. The Comprehensive Breast Cancer Program is accredited by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers and is the first in Palm Beach County and the Treasure Coast region to achieve this recognition. U.S. News & World Report has also bestowed the highest accolade upon Jupiter Medical Center’s colon cancer surgery and lung cancer surgery programs, designating it a “High-Performing Hospital” in both categories for 2022-23. The Anderson Family Cancer Institute has also been recognized by the National Pancreas Foundation as an NPF Pancreas Cancer Center of Excellence and is the only hospital in the region to achieve this distinction.

In addition to expanding services, Jupiter Medical Center is also expanding access to care to address the health needs created by current and projected population demands. In early October, Jupiter Medical Center announced it is building a new neighborhood hospital to meet the needs of the growing western Palm Beach County community. The Jupiter Medical Center | UF Health Neighborhood Hospital at the Health Park at Avenir is projected to be completed in 2024. The hospital will be a two-story, 53,000-square-foot building featuring 24-hour emergency services, inpatient beds, operating rooms, a diagnostic laboratory, and imaging services. Jupiter Medical Center’s main campus is also undergoing improvements, most notably an expansion of the emergency department, the creation of a new 100-bed patient tower, and a new Surgical Institute.
