Jupiter Medical Center Celebrates Auxiliary Board Members Joan Jorgenson Elected as Executive Vice President; Fred Lissauer Installed for Second Term as President

JUPITER, Fla. (November 29, 2022) – Last month, Jupiter Medical Center – the area’s only independent, not-for-profit hospital – celebrated its Auxiliary Board Members with a brief reception to honor Joan Jorgenson as the newly-elected Executive Vice President, and Fred Lissauer, President, who was installed for a second one-year term. The remaining members, who are serving the second year of their two-year term, include Maggie Hart, Secretary; Frank Wiesler, Assistant Secretary; David Goolgasian, Treasurer; and Loretta Reeves, Assistant Treasurer.

"We thank our executive board for giving of their time, their talent and their leadership in service to Jupiter Medical Center,” said Dominique Kruisland, Director of Volunteer Services for Jupiter Medical Center. “For 45 years, our hundreds of volunteers have faithfully supported Jupiter Medical Center in its mission of delivering excellent and compassionate health care to our community.”

A Jupiter resident, Jorgenson has volunteered in the Surgical Service Department at Jupiter Medical Center for nearly five years. A former human resources executive, Jorgenson spent her career sourcing quality candidates for nonprofit organizations as the owner of her own executive search firm. Her new role includes becoming familiar with all the functions of the Auxiliary President and assisting with volunteer recruitment.

“The greatest satisfaction for me is working with Jupiter Medical Center nurses and patients,” said Jorgenson. “I love providing support to the staff and assisting patients and their families through the pre-surgical process. Patients are so appreciative of their excellent care, and it makes me happy to be part of their satisfaction. I look forward to taking on more responsibility in this new leadership position.”

The Auxiliary Board is responsible for overseeing all hospital volunteer programs and the Jupiter Medical Center Thrift Shop and Gift Shop. Started in 1976, the Auxiliary supports the world-class hospital with both time and financial donations. Since its inception, the Auxiliary has donated over $14 million to support Jupiter Medical Center, and in the last ten years, the Auxiliary has provided more than 860,000 volunteer hours. Volunteers perform various tasks, such as assisting visitors, directing, escorting and transporting patients, helping family members in waiting rooms, performing administrative functions, visiting with patients, or making sure the patient is as comfortable as possible. Volunteers can be seen across Jupiter Medical Center’s campus – from the Margaret W. Niedland Breast Center to the emergency department, escort desk, gift shop, thrift shop, and more.
