JUPITER, FL. (May 15, 2019) — Jupiter Medical Center has once again been awarded an ‘A’ from The Leapfrog Group, this time in the organization’s release of the spring 2019 Hospital Safety Grades. The achievement recognizes Jupiter Medical Center’s outstanding performance in protecting patients from harm and providing safer health care. In addition, Jupiter Medical Center remains the only health care provider in the region recognized by The Leapfrog Group as a Top Hospital, placing it among the nation’s most elite hospitals.

The Leapfrog Group is a national nonprofit organization committed to improving health care quality and safety for consumers and purchasers. The Safety Grade assigns an ‘A’, ‘B’, ‘C’, ‘D’ or ‘F’ grade to hospitals across the country based on their performance in preventing medical errors, injuries, accidents, infections and other harmful occurrences to patients in their care.

“Our mission to deliver excellent and compassionate health care advancing the well-being of the people we serve is evident as we have and will continue to pursue the highest safety, quality and service excellence standards,” said Joanne Miller, interim co-CEO. “We are grateful to have earned the trust and respect of those we serve and have a strong commitment to exceed the rigorous national safety benchmarks. Our focus on the science of safety and quality systems will always be cutting edge.”

“All of us at Jupiter Medical Center are proud to once again earn an ‘A’ for hospital safety,” said Steven Seeley, interim co-CEO. “It validates the time, energy and effort that our team puts forth on a daily basis to ensure the safety and well-being of our patients.”

The spring 2019 recognition comes on the heels of Jupiter Medical Center earning an ‘A’ for fall 2018 and subsequently winning the Top Hospital award. Presented last December, the Leapfrog Top Hospital award is widely acknowledged as one of the most competitive honors American hospitals can receive. It is awarded to select hospitals that embody the highest standards of excellence in health care.

“Earning back-to-back Leapfrog ‘A’ grades, as well as the coveted Top Hospital award, gives our community confidence that Jupiter Medical Center maintains the highest standards in patient safety,” said Martin A. Dytrych, CPA, chairman of the Jupiter Medical Center Board of Trustees. “I congratulate everyone at Jupiter Medical Center for their steadfast dedication to creating a safe environment for our patients.”

Developed under the guidance of a national Expert Panel, the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade uses 28 measures of publicly available hospital safety data to assign grades to more than 2,600 U.S. acute-care hospitals twice per year. The Hospital Safety Grade’s methodology is peer-reviewed and fully transparent, and the results are free to the public.

“To be recognized nationally as an ‘A’ hospital is an accomplishment the whole community should take pride in,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “Hospitals that earn an ‘A’ grade are making it a priority to protect patients from preventable medical harm and error. We congratulate hospital leaders, board members, staff, volunteers and clinicians who work so hard to earn this A.”

Jupiter Medical Center was one of 832 hospital across the United States awarded an A in the Spring 2019 update of grades. To see Jupiter Medical Center’s full grade details, and to access patient tips for staying safe in the hospital, please visit www.jupitermed.com/safety.
