Pelvic Health Rehabilitation
Millions of people in the United States suffer from pelvic floor disorders.
About half of those affected by this disorder are so embarrassed that
they never discuss the problem with a health care professional. This is
unfortunate because in the majority of cases the problem can be relieved.
Jupiter Medical Center offers a comprehensive pelvic health rehabilitation
program. Our pelvic health physical therapists have advanced training
and experience in assessing and treating specialized conditions including
pelvic pain, pain and dysfunction in pregnancy, incontinence, and others.
What Are Pelvic Floor Disorders?
Pelvic floor disorders in women are often the result of childbirth, hormonal
changes during menopause and the anatomy of the urinary tract. The leading
cause in men is an enlarged prostate and/or prostate surgery. As we age
changes in the nervous system can contribute to this as well.
If you suffer from any of the following conditions physical therapy may
be able to help relieve your symptoms and improve your quality of life.
- Urinary incontinence
- Urinary frequency and urgency
- Pelvic pain
- Pain during intercourse
- Bladder pain
- Fecal/bowel incontinence
- Constipation
- Persistent low back and pelvic joint pain, despite previous treatment
