Nominate a Caregiver (Non-Nurse)

The Diseases Attacking the Immune System (DAISY) award was founded by the family of J. Patrick Barnes, who died of Idiopathic Thrombolytic Purpura (ITP). In his memory the family wanted to hold on to the positive aspects of his eight week hospitalization. The skillful and compassionate care that he received from his nurses compelled them to express their profound gratitude through the DAISY award. To support his legacy, his family had the following goals:

  • To recognize “the super human work nurses do every day”
  • To fund research to improve treatment /cure for ITP and related disorders
  • To educate others with ITP, and encourage donations of bone marrow/ blood.

The award is presented in over 968 hospitals in all fifty states. Recognition of our extraordinary nurses at JMC is determined by nominations by families, patients, and peers. Nomination forms are located throughout the hospital. The Professional Development shared governance council selects the winner from the nurses nominated based on specific criteria as outlined in the nomination form. The group that presents the nurse with the award includes our Chief Nursing Officer, Nursing Directors and Managers, Nurse Educators, and staff nurses.

The DAISY award recognizes nurses for the compassionate care they provide to our patients every day. To nominate a nurse, click here.

The Sunshine Award program recognizes Jupiter Medical Center’s extraordinary Allied Health Team Members. This is a complement to the international DAISY award program which recognizes Nurses (see above on this page if you would like to nominate a nurse). The Sunshine Award recognizes all other caregivers at Jupiter Medical Center, including: dietary, therapists, environmental services, technicians or other team members for the contributions they make to providing an exceptional patient experience.
