Car Seat Safety
As you prepare for your newborn’s arrival, you’ll want to make sure you are comfortable with using your infant car seat. When choosing a car seat, make sure that the manufacturer’s guidelines recommend its use for newborns and that you have checked the expiration date.
The car seat should be a rear-facing infant car seat with a 5-point harness. It would be helpful to practice buckling and positioning with a stuffed animal or doll before your baby is born. You will also want to install the base in your vehicle prior to their birth by following the manufacturer’s guidelines. We encourage parents to bring the car seat into the hospital prior to discharge so you feel comfortable putting them in before you head home.
